Mouse Locator is a System Preference that displays a little colored target (customizable) around your mouse when you move it after it's sat idle for a period of time. The idea is that with the increasing size and resolution of todays displays, you often have trouble finding your mouse when you come back to it after a while. I've noticed myself trying to find it by moving it around a bunch and so I thought I'd give this a try. I find I like it so I'm keeping it.
The time idle and the time it displays for before fading out are both controllable and as well as the graphic that surrounds the mouse. You can download replacement graphics from the developer's site or, if you're graphics savvy, you can create your own like I did. Here's mine:
